What is an EDI INVOIC Specification?

The EDI INVOIC is a message that requests payment for goods/services supplied under conditions where the two parties (seller & buyer) agree with each other. EDI INVOIC is an EDIFACT message (EDIFACT is the international, non-U.S. default EDI standard).

How is INVOIC Used?

The Invoice message (INVOIC) is used in Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) between trading partners involved in administration, commerce and transport. EDI INVOIC may be also applied for both national and international trade. It is based on universal commercial practice and it doesn't depend on a specific type of business or industry. The INVOIC is sent by vendors to request payment from their purchasers in exchange for goods supplied.

The United Nations Standard Invoice Message also serves as the specification for Debit Note and Credit Note messages.
